Dr. Norman Borlaug
I don't want to turn this blog into a Penn Radio review. But, just a couple of days ago, he did a very noteworthy show: an interview with Dr. Norman Borlaug.
I suspect that most people, like me, have never heard of Norman Borlaug. He should be more well-known. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1970 for his work in developing agriculture in third world countries. Some have credited him with saving over one billion people from starvation -- that's about one-sixth of the world's current population.
Joining Dr. Norman Borlaug for the interview is his long-time associate, Leon Hesser, whose biography of Borlaug, The Man Who Fed The World, has just been published.
