|Aya Sofya: This is the view through one of the doorways from the narthex into the main sanctuary. The Aya Sofya was the first Christian cathedral, built circa 500 A.D. by the Roman Emperor, Justinian. Its name means "Holy Wisdom". When the Ottomans conquered Istanbul in 1500 A.D. it was converted to a mosque. Now it is a secular museum run by the Turkish government.
You can't tell from the photo, but it's really cold inside.
