Me on top of Lembert Dome, a short side hike from Dog Lake.

I was worried that I might experience altitude sickness on Mt. Whitney, since I became sick the last time I was at high altitude, when skiing in Colorado. I was relieved that Lembert Dome's 9,450-foot altitude didn't affect me too badly.

It was cold and windy on top of Lembert Dome. And it started snowing lightly as we walked down. I decided I should worry less about altitude and more about making sure to dress warmly on Mt. Whitney. Dressing warmly turned out to be a good idea; we experienced similar weather two days later as we were descending Mt. Whitney.
